ULTRAMAN TRIGGER Series Treasure Hunter Ignis to Be Played by Kei Hosogai! Musical Artists & Theme Songs also Announced!

May.27, 2021 News

The new TV series Ultraman Trigger is set to start broadcasting on July 10th, Ultraman Day, on the TV Tokyo Network in Japan. At 5 PM every Thursday we will release the latest information about the series and its main cast!

Today’s update introduces the intrepid treasure hunter, Ignis, who travels the galaxy in pursuit of only “top-class” treasures. Having worked his way into becoming an integral member of Ultraman Trigger and GUTS-Select, his actions are as riveting as they are curious –– what is this mysterious figure  really up to? The role of Ignis will be played by Kei Hosogai. From childhood to his teen years, Hosogai lived in the United States, then made his acting debut in the musical, The Prince of Tennis (2008). From there, Hosogai appeared in roles for stage, TV, film, voice acting, and anime character songs. As his circle of activity has expanded, he’s become a known and loved figure in tokusatsu action entertainment as well.

Additionally, the theme songs that will kick off and close each episode of the season have been set! The opening song is “Trigger,” by Takao Sakuma, and the ending song is “Rainbow Seeds,” by ChouCho.

Takao Sakuma is known for his work in the band that made their major debut with the ending song for the 2015 TV anime series, Kuroko’s Basketball. Besides his music career, Hosogai is known as one of today’s hottest young voice actors.

ChouCho first drew attention for a song uploaded to a video sharing site, then made her major debut doing the opening song for the 2011 TV anime series Heaven’s Memo Pad. Since then, a string of hit anime theme songs have helped her become one of the most sought-after singer-songwriters in the industry.

Ignis (334 years old / equivalent to 34 Earth Years)

A treasure hunter from Planet Lishuria. At first sight, Lishurians are indistinguishable from humans on Planet Earth, but when they get excited or emotional, the difference becomes clear. As he’s always fond of saying, he quests only for the “top-class” treasures, and his galactic travels bring him to Earth, where he somehow meets up with and becomes closely tied to GUTS-Select. What on Earth could he possibly be seeking…

<Personal Message>

I never imagined that one day I’d be getting to make music for Ultraman, so when I received word I was ecstatic!

I created the ending song thinking of the children, finding in them inspiration for the theme: limitless possibility. With this song coming at the conclusion of each episode, my aim was to send viewers off in high spirits with a song that would bring hope to everyone.

I hope you enjoy this ending song along with the series!
